There’s something about the
melodies in this new release by New Yorker Katie Rush that immediately puts me
in mind of Flight of the Conchords which is a massive compliment but not one
that I often throw out to new tracks that come my way. ‘Together’ is a lighter
than air slice of wonky alt-pop that combines the class of Madison Beer, the energy
of Tennis duetting with Lana Del Rey and the sultry, seductive undertones of Kelis
or Lion Babe. Honestly, I haven’t heard something this polished and icy-cool
for a long time and certainly not from an artist still on the rise. Colour me
impressed.
