The Bristol lads Idles are taking over the world. Literally. In fact, these guys are so damn busy that they’re flagging their next single now even though it doesn’t come out until August because they are touring all over the place. Anyway, I ain’t complaining about a sneaky peak at a track like ‘Mercedes Marxist’ which is, as you might expect, explosively raw and brutal from the get-go. Framed around a garage beat and throbbing bass line, a rattling guitar line and Joe Talbot’s distinctive vocal soon join in to build the tension. Talbot’s vocal delivery is taking on more of an American twang in places but that doesn’t detract from that visceral and incendiary energy that has made Idles the hugely deserving hot tickets that they are.
