LIBRALIBRA – SINGLE REVIEW

LibraLibra – Loverboy
LibraLibra - Loverboy

Release Date: Out Now

I played my fair share of Dream Phone at university (long story, don’t ask) but I don’t remember it the way Brighton outfit LibraLibra bring it back to life in the new video for their latest single. That said, LibraLibra are not your average band content with just churning out singles unless they have excellent artwork and thought-provoking visual accompaniment – it’s not their bag. ‘Loverboy’ opens with a faux-80s jingle with some sinister bearded teen-girls before settling in to an aggressively slinky melody that struts and grinds in all the right places. The chorus takes equal measure of Lush, Shampoo and Transvision Vamp while the song continues to wrap its pointed tail around your soul to lead you on to the dance floor. On the surface, this is trashy and brassy indie-pop but there so, so much beneath the surface that it’s really worth your time to dig down like an archaeological dig through the last three decades using a pic’n’mix scoop.

Live Dates:

3rd May – Liverpool Sound City, Liverpool
