WILLE & THE BANDITS – LIVE REVIEW

Wille & the Bandits + Rainbreakers live at the Junction, Plymouth – 8th March 2019

In these days of rapidly closing venues and live music’s dwindling importance in the cultural view, it is so heartening to walk in to an unassuming venue like the Junction in Plymouth to be greeted by a sell out crowd and a cross section of society all existing in one place for the love of nothing but music. The first thing the huddled masses are treated to is the laid back rock’n’roll with a hint of blues of Shrewsbury outfit Rainbreakers. These four lads have a fresh, clean sound that reminds me of listening to early Reef gigs and they warm the crowd up perfectly for the main event.

Wille Edwards
This Plymouth show is something of a home-coming for one of the UK’s hardest working bands so Wille & the Bandits take the stage a warm and rowdy welcome greets them from this packed out venue. The trio set about blending material from their new album ‘Paths’ in to a set full of tried and tested material that has been wowing crowds around Europe for years. These three insanely talented musicians know their way around a whole variety of instruments which is obviously deeply impressive and pretty damn captivating. What is most impressive and pleasing, however, is that at no point does the quest for musical excellence get in the way of a groove or just generally rocking out which they do…a lot. For Wille & the Bandits the tour continues, more crowds will come and go but for those at the Junction tonight, this night will live long in the memory…at least until they roll back in to town again.
