I have to admit that the idea of
an environmental activist musical collective, which is how Trapdoor Social are
described in their press blurb, brought images of the likes of the Levellers or
Enya to mind. So, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the new single from the LA
outfit in all its funky, hip-pop glory. ‘The Move’ fits neatly in alongside the
likes of the Weeknd, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake (with a little
Nile Rodgers in the background) thanks to the groove of the rhythm section, the
tight funky guitars and the high-pitched vocals. Trapdoor Social have been
known to run solar powered gigs in their quest to save the planet but that
doesn’t mean they can’t have fun doing it so everyone wins, I guess.
