FONTAINES D.C. – SINGLE REVIEW

Fontaines D.C. – Roy’s Tune (Partisan
Fontaines D.C. - Roy's Tune
Records)

Release Date: Out Now

The star of Dublin band Fontaines D.C. is still rapidly ascending so it makes sense for them to pause with a slightly calmer tune to take it all in. ‘Roy’s Tune’ has a reflective and retrospective vibe to it with jangling guitars, a bass line that keeps you bubbling along and drums that do the simple things incredibly well. All of this is the bread of the sandwich with the meaty filling created by the deadpan, Irish drawl of frontman Grian Chatten singing this ode to Ireland – all the good and bad parts – with nostalgia dripping from every pore. The band are off to America soon and I have no doubt they’ll be welcomed with open arms and charged glasses. All power to Fontaines D.C..
