Release Date: Out Now

Now this is a piece of something shiny and special. Liverpool trio Trudy and the Romance are ploughing a furrow that has been left largely fallow since the late 90s on new single ‘The Original Doo-Wop Spacemen’. The shuddering guitars and subdued vocals mixed with the 1950s aesthetic brings to mind the likes of Edwyn Collins and Pulp as well as some of the material from Richard Hawley and later Arctic Monkeys releases. What I’m saying is that there is an understated grandiosity to this and given a sizeable budget, a good analogue studio and a passionate producer, these guys could lose the understated and push things on to another level.
