FONTAINES D.C. – SINGLE REVIEW

Fontaines D.C. – Big (Partisan Records)
Fontaines D.C. - Big

Release Date: Out Now

Along with IDLES, Fontaines D.C. are spearheading a new post-punk movement at the moment and it speaks volumes for the mental and emotional state of the music consuming generations right now. New single ‘Big’ is about as brutal and raw as it comes with an unapologetically persistent beat, clattering guitars and a deadpan vocal delivering lines like “Dublin in the rain is mine, a pregnant city with a Catholic mind”, dripping in upbringing, frustration and reluctant pride. The Irish outfit are off to tour the world and I think that’s a very, very good thing for everyone concerned – we all need new heroes right now. The video is a cracker too, already on the video of the year long list for the performance of the wee lad lip-synching through the market streets.
