State are back with new single ‘Germany’ and although it’s not out until
January, it’s well worth flagging up so you can save your Our Price vouchers that
you will inevitably be given for Christmas. And don’t worry, despite the title,
this isn’t the sound of the band giving up on Brexit doomed Britain and
pleading for the love of our Germanic cousins. No, this is urgent, agitated and
vital music with the Clash, Billy Bragg, the National and Maximo Park running
through the veins like a daily dose of whisky. I am more impressed with the
Maple State every time I heard another one of their songs so 2019 promises to be
an excellent year if these guys are hanging around.
