South London’s Zion is a solo
artist of British-Nigerian descent and a smooth flow that makes him perfectly
suited for straddling the Atlantic and finding success on both sides. New
single ‘FriendZone’ is a classic tale of getting beyond the ‘just friends’
stage and taking things to the next level played out over gentle rhythms,
undulating melodies and Zion’s cool, fresh vocals that don’t harass or cajole
but gently persuade. I can see Zion on a duet with Rita Ora or featuring on a
Calvin Harris track and thus catapulting him in to the mainstream where he
belongs.
