Dutch singer-songwriter Sofie Winterson
has a wonderfully unique style and lo-fi approach to her music which comes
across beautifully in new single ‘Half Asleep’. Winterson’s vocal style is
muted and deadpan but not lacking in melody or personality. Meanwhile, the
music pitched somewhere between Gary Newman, Kate Nash and Depeche Mode with
processed beats, synth drones and sprinkled electro melodies that are all
welded together to create a robot that you might just be able to fall in love
with – even though it can’t jump or recognise sarcasm.
