NADINE KHOURI – SINGLE REVIEW

Nadine Khouri – To Sleep
Nadine Khouri - To Sleep

Release Date: Out Now

British-Lebanese artist has a relatively unique list of influences on her Facebook page including Sparklehorse, Low, Leonard Cohen, Stina Nordenstam and Tom Brosseau. Then you listen to ‘To Sleep’ and it all fits. The nearly one minute long acoustic intro is purposefully and deliberately slow before the dusky vocals of Khouri join in for the kind of slow dance that should only be danced in black and white. A laconic violin and a real sense of Parisian loss makes this a particularly sombre and melancholy tune which is hard to avoid and, frankly, why would you want to?
