If you’re looking for a tune that
starts like an old skool piece arcade game music and then converts in to an 80s
inspired indie-rock stomper then look no further for Raffer is here. The new
single from Callum Rafferty (aka Raffer) is a bouncy, sparkling effort with
Maccabees guitars and the arrangements that Orange Juice or Prefab Sprout might
have employed at their peak. There’s a sense of energy and optimism about this
that it’s hard to resist (and why would you?) so you’ve got to give them props for
that but it’s the melodies and arrangements that set this one apart from the pack
in the indie-pop world.
