PIP HALL – SINGLE REVIEW

Pip Hall – Mary (My Little Empire Records)
Pip Hall - Mary

Release Date: Out Now

If you’re a fully paid up member of the Pip Hall fan club yet, then I’d suggest raiding the piggy bank for some change and get yourself one of those club badges and the Pip Hall diary. You’d also do well to get your hands on Hall’s new single, ‘Mary’, which opens with a more advanced and mature sound then her previous and already impressive releases. There are tones of Best Coast and Tennis but with a more Belly meets Lush vibe going on in the lo-fi grunge guitars but it’s the aloofly delivered lyrics that really win the prize here. Pip Hall is still a young pup herself but lines like “ripped jeans and shit hair, no money but you don’t care, you took me to the broken house where I fell in love for the first time” are just sublime moments in the short-lived life of young love. Now, break out your Pip Hall wall planner and let’s start keeping track of her rise to well deserved success.
