FANTASTIC NEGRITO – SINGLE REVIEW

Fantastic Negrito – Plastic Hamburgers

Fantastic Negrito - Plastic Hamburgers

Release Date: Out Now

The rattle of the guitar on this track followed by the balls-out rock’n’roll guitar vs Hammond organ makes this one of the most appealing openings to a track I’ve heard in a very, very long time. Oakland’s Fantastic Negrito is new to me, but I’m already hooked and ‘Plastic Hamburgers’ is a great gateway drug for this intoxicating music. Let’s break it down, Fantastic Negrito starts with the rattling blues, injects it with a heavy dose of the funk, overlays it with some potent social awareness and then wraps it up with a tighter than tight band that rocks. Hard. I had to check that Tom Morello wasn’t behind this in some way and if Ben Harper or Lenny Kravitz were in the band you wouldn’t be surprised or disappointed. I’m calling this one early, this is on my shortlist for single of the year. There, I said it.
