Spearhead of the Femme movement
Ms Mohammed is back with new single ‘Pandora’ and it’s got nothing to do with
bracelets or charms, I can assure you. Angry, urgent guitars and a military
beat get things moving before Ms Mohammed’s sultry, almost menacing vocals emerges
from the darkness with all the intent of a motorcycle appearing over the horizon
at night. The key to this track is rhythm with the drums pounding and the breathy
chorus vocal punctuating the gaps and giving this a wonderfully relentless
feel. I can’t help but feel that this is a breathless and tiring track to
perform live but this recorded version sits somewhere between Deux Furieuses,
Queens of the Stone Age, Florence + The Machine and Death In Vegas and all with
Iggy Pop on production duties. What more could you ask for?
