Having made Poppy Ackroyd my solo
female artist of the year for the UK this year, it’s not surprise that I love
this latest release, ‘Paper’. What is a surprise, however, is that she doesn’t have
any UK dates lined up for the UK next year although our German neighbours will
be getting a strong visitation. ‘Paper’ is a reassuringly consistent piece that
finds Ackroyd in complete mastery of her two key instruments of violin and piano
which are combined beautifully to create a piece of cinematic proportions. As
this season of chaos and pressure comes upon us, I can only recommend that you
keep yourself a little time to one side to let the music of Poppy Ackroyd wash
over you. It’s soul cleansing and simply sublime. Bravo, Ms Ackroyd.
