Ready for something a little bit
dirty and moody? Really, well I’m not sure you’re ready for this. Stash (aka
Stash Peso) is bringing us his new single, ‘Glow’, and it lives in a shadowy
area all of its own. Sure, this has its roots in Hip-Hop and Rap but there’s
something different here which seeps in through the slowly throbbing synths and
sketchy, itchy beats and wraps all around you. The low, nearly mumbled verses
are counterbalanced by the more soulful vocals of the chorus and those beats
get more sultry, more seductive. The last time I heard something with this
blend of originality, dirt, soul, aggression and beauty it was when I was
discovering Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead back in the day. Make of that
what you will but to me that’s a really, really good thing.
