I got a lot of music from Swedish
musicians in 2016, I mean A LOT. So, I’m pleased to shift focus a bit and see
what Danish musician Fjer has to offer. Maja Barlose, for she is Fjer, is
currently based in New York and this single, ‘Better’, along with its
accompanying video are perfect examples of European cool clashing with American
mass appeal like oil and water to make something enthralling. Fjer’s voice is classically poppy with a cool
confidence and hint of sensuality about the processed vocal tones while the
melodies bounce sultrily around in the shadows looking for the right moment to
enter the party. Fjer is an alt-pop talent worth paying attention to whichever
side of the Atlantic you’re living on.
