roundabout. And Kelvin Jones. The latest addition to the mighty Sony label is
the talented 20-year-old soul singer and what an addition he is!? ‘Closer’ is
the new single from this fresh talent and its acoustic plus piano driven melody
is instantly infectious. There’s soul, pop and a smidge of Motown as Jones
works through the genres along with ages in his charming video. If you’re
looking for comparisons then you’re talking James Bay but with more personality
and fun, Paolo Nutini with more soul or Aloe Blacc but with a more English
vibe. Sure, this is pretty mainstream stuff but Sony aren’t going to go signing
anyone right on the edge of things are they? That doesn’t stop this being a
cracking tune though and it certainly doesn’t stop Kelvin Jones being a very
hot prospect with a great voice.
