WITTERQUICK – SINGLE REVIEW

Witterquick – Rise (LAB Records)
Witterquick - Rise

Release Date: 8th June 2016

If you’re in the mood for some epic, cinematic, borderline emo rock which is heavy on the piano and ready to be thrown straight in to a Hollywood blockbuster then you’re in luck – although I would question why you’re in that specific mood on a Monday evening in June…..weirdo. Exeter quintet Witterquick are whetting our appetites with a new single, ‘Rise’, ahead of their eagerly anticipated EP coming later this month. This tune specifically features the kind of stadium filling, emotionally fuelled rock that the likes of Incubus have had so much success with latterly but which often gets short shrift on this side of the Atlantic. The soaring, duelling guitars give this tune raw power but it’s the delicate piano notes and smooth, assured vocals of frontman Will that sell this as something to really sit up and pay attention to. These guys have got the melodies, the confidence and the look (I mean just look at that angular hair and those tidy beards?), so as long as their live shows are full of the same passion and drive then they might just be on to something. There’s only one way to find out…..

Live Dates:

11th June – Respect Festival, Exeter
19th June – EP Launch @ Phoenix, Exeter

27th August – Anchored To The Sound Festival, Plymouth
