HOO HAS - SINGLE REVIEW

HOO HAs - Yankee (Lost In The Manor Records)
HOO HAs - Yankee

Release Date: 30th October 2015

Kent quartet HOO HAs look like they could either be a bunch of annoying hipster twats or the life and soul of the party who will always make good times happen around them. People who look like that will always attract attention and that's a good quality to have in a rock'n'roll band but is the music any good? Only one way to find out. 'Yankee' is the debut single on the new label for these gents and it is a smidge over two minutes of blues garage inspired, slacker fun served up on a platter of roast potatoes and gravy. There's suburban rebellion at the heart of this, the idea of following in the 9-5 grind is just unthinkable and some early Blur riffs mixed with Ian Dury are the best way to go about voicing that inherent horror. It's not the most punchy of debut singles but it perfectly captures that Sunday afternoon down the pub feeling when you sit with your mates, a hangover and an overwhelming feeling that there must be something else, something more to life than repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
