Antimatador are one of my new
favourite bands. Fact. Why you ask? Well, they've got an ace name for starters.
Then there's the music, a blend of funk, soul, agit-pop and rock that takes
parts of Rage Against The Machine, Rudimental and early Incubus to make an
uplifting and infectious sound. Latest single 'Find Your Way' has been around
for a little while but it's worth taking time to get to know it as the smooth
keys and soulful vocals ooze in to the gaps between the spiky beats and jagged
guitars. The rhymes of MC Vegas give proceedings an edge and provide the
perfect counterbalance to Myron Riley's super soulful pipes. The single also
features the Fjokra remix which takes the essence of the song and turns it in
to a slightly menacing but ultimately relaxing late night chill out tune. There
is also a live version of 'Right One' from a performance at Plymouth's Palace
Theatre which shows off the bands more relaxed Reggae Dub side. All in all,
Antimatador are the kind of band that will show you a good time and give you
some good chat in between dances which works for me. More please.
