The warm guitars that open this
tune and summery sense you get from the name Breeze are not synonymous with the
images that most folk have of this band's home town, Hull. Nothing against the
place, I've never been so can't comment, but summery, poppy, indie guitar fun
isn't necessarily what I'd have expected. Still, 'Same Wave' fuses the likes of
the Pigeon Detectives, the Cure, Swim Deep, the Arcade Fire and the Maccabees
to fit in to that raw, edgy indie-pop category quite nicely indeed. There's not
much here that makes me particularly excited or energised but this is an
entirely acceptable slice of guitar noise and I could think of a lot of worse
ways to spend three minutes of my life.
