JUST MILLIE - SINGLE REVIEW

Just Millie - Not OK (Groovefinder Records)
Just Millie - Not OK

Release Date: 24th July 2015

Shaftesbury. Not somewhere I get an awful lot of music from but it sure beats the endless stream of artists coming from 'London'. Just Millie is a young singer-songwriter from the shires of Shaftesbury and this new single, 'Not OK', is a lively, sweet'n'sour delight. The sweet comes from the bouncy, ramshackle acoustic guitar, gypsy rhythms and Just Millie's pitch perfect vocal delivery which has power, range and personality. The sour comes in the attitude within that vocal, the gritted teeth determination of the lyrics and the way the tune builds to a wonderfully defiant crescendo. For fans of Kate Nash, Indigo Girls, Lilly Allen, Jamie T and Sound of the Sirens but also for anyone who wants to hear a fresh, refreshing and utterly engaging new talent who is, let's face it, unreasonably young to be creating such ace tunes. Big things, I predict, big things.
