Jointpop are an intriguing prospect who don't look or get sold in their PR
anything like they actually sound. This new track, 'Simply Beautiful', and the
accompanying video have a smooth, slick charm that you might have expected from
an 80s pop legend like Billy Ocean or Lionel Ritchie but then there's a quirky
edge that is more akin to Elvis Costello or Ian Dury. There's a big guitar solo
and a ballady build up which is grander than the understated sentiment behind
the lyrics. I have to say, this isn't necessarily a song that I would have
crossed the road to hear but coupled with the mannequin inspired video it
becomes a different prospect altogether.
