THE APACHE RELAY - SINGLE REVIEW

The Apache Relay - Katie Queen Of Tennessee
The Apache Relay - Katie Queen Of Tennessee

Release Date: Out Now

I have a cousin who lives in Nashville teaching European History to American High School kids. I always think I should visit him and then I worry that Nashville's glamour will be tarnished after years of neglect and a steady stream of tourists. Then Nashville bunch The Apache Relay pop up and give me another, altogether more pressing reason to visit the home of Country'n'Western music. New single 'Katie Queen Of Tennesse' is a love song as sung by a slightly creepy guy hiding in your bushes but absolute musical integrity at its heart. There's a country influence, sure, but then the likes of the National, Arcade Fire, Midlake and the Treetop Flyers can all be heard in the swooning strings and drawled lyrics played out over a shuffled beat and rolling guitar notes. This is the kind of song that, with the right push, will get the album sales up and ensure that The Apache Relay can play Arenas for years to come to an army of loyal fans. Here's hoping, for all our sakes, that it gets the right push.
