Soak (aka Bridie Monds-Watson) is one of those hot prospects you hear about but
when you see them you can instantly tell that they don't care about the hype
and the bullshit. Soak just wants to make music and somehow avoid a life of
drudgery in a dead end job that will numb what is an obviously sharp mind. 'B A
noBody' is a delicate, brittle, snowflake of a song with dancing acoustic
notes, icy piano notes and Soak's voice weaving through the whole thing like a
steel core but, somehow, always in the background. When the drums join in
towards the end there's a swell of emotion and a stirring in the ether that is
so elemental and well developed that it's hard believe she is still in her
teenage years. Drudgery is not on the horizon for this girl, not on my watch.
