I really like this London trio
who seem to flying just under the radar at the moment so would urge you all to
take a look and have a listen. New single 'Anybody Out There' is the kind of
polished pop you might expect to appear on E4 Music but it's got much more of
an edge than anything the X Factor rejects and Brit School graduates might
produce. The light, breathy vocals are in the Ellie Goulding and La Roux part of
the spectrum while the drums click underneath and the synths throb, whir and
bob like parts of a fantastical machine invited by Roald Dahl after a couple of
spliffs. Sykes are capable of regularly producing superbly polished pop with a
personality and an edge - something many pop producers would kill to be able to
do. Literally.
