My favourite new Icelandic band,
Rokkurro, are back with a haunting and distinctly beautiful new single. 'Blue
Skies' is made up of superbly layered organically produced sounds which are
perfectly selected with not an inch of fat left on the tune to create a sparse
but strangely full sound that we can all enjoy. The delicate vocals first
emerge like a nervous door mouse before standing up on their hind legs to let
out a roar for the whole forest to hear. Rokkurro are one of those emerging
bands that might just cause a ripple on a global scale - a little bit like one
of those pesky and unpronounceable volcanoes they have in Iceland.
