Over the life span of this blog I
have come across a number of excellent Canadian artists (not literally, that
would have left me a dried husk of a man) but Ontario boys The Dirty Nil might
well be one of my favourites. Forthcoming single 'Cinnamon' is one of their more
traditionally melodic songs but it still retains the meaty heaviness of their
grunge influences as the guitars thrive in the dirty, sleazy back alleys of
downtown rock'n'rolls-ville. The vocals are straight from the Ramones school of
elocution and the rhythm section is just as primal as you could hope for. These
guys are fun in the worst kinda way which is why I like them just as much as I
do.
