Pigeon - Miami (Memphis Industries)
Release Date: Out Now
Somebody sound the new favourite band alarm because, ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to meet Pigeon. Geographically, Pigeon are a Margate based collective but I very much doubt these gents are going to be tied down to one place, time or space for very long. 'Miami' is the first single I've heard from this lot but I was immediately hooked by the afrobeat intro coupled with a furious little synth melody and the opening scenes of the video where man dressed as a sunflower is standing in a field of sunflowers. The song then takes on a punk beat, flavours of reggae, and influences from the likes of Dutch Uncles, Bloc Party, WITCH, and LCD Soundsystem. If I'm not shortlisting this for single and video of the year come December then 2026 will have been extraordinarily good - musically speaking, the rest of it looks like a shitshow already.
