Falling Empires are a Cornish outfit who dabble in the heavier, darker side of rock'n'roll music so let's get ready to rock. The four track EP starts with the atmospheric 'Wamura' that moodily emerges through spoken word lyrics spat atop the dark guitar notes that soon erupt, causing a tsunami of sound to wash over the listener. 'Downfall' follows next, fittingly for an EP called 'This Is The End', and the energy is such that you instinctively want to put one foot on the vocal monitor and preach to the audience as the Linkin Park meets Evanescence vibes take over.
Former single 'Keelhaul' has a malevolent and all consuming energy that feels like a wave overcoming your ship as you just give in to the awesome natural force of it all. The EP closes out on 'A Language Lost', echoing out from the top of a windswept Cornish cliff into the oncoming storm as the guitars, drums and bass combine to create a launch pad for the screaming vocals to release from. Falling Empires are a powerful, atmospheric and intense sounding band but, more than that, they are also skilfully adept at creating epic soundscapes that would suit the moodier corners of the soundtrack world.
