2025 introduced us to wonderful new UK band Saiphon who produced a brilliant debut album and that should have been enough. However, in the background, band member Bennie Hayfield has been beavering away on some solo material and new single 'I Must Travel On' is the first product of that effort. A breathy harmonica gets us going before Hayfield settles into a Dylan-esque strum and a vocal delivering world-weary lyrics that he seems too young for. This isn't cutting edge or pushing any boundaries but it is good, honest song writing with a soulful voice and a sound that has the ability to strip the insignificancies of the world away while you watch the firelight die away.
