Alex Delamard is the one man music machine behind a.gris and his breathy new single 'bar' is a gorgeously understated track. From an unassuming acoustic strum and vocals that are almost subdued, this one grows into a multi-layered delight full of LA cool, Gaelic charm, and London street-smarts. There is some shoegaze in here, a little Trent Reznor in terms of the ambience, and it reminds me of the criminally overlooked Ben's Symphonic Orchestra in the way it appears lo-fi but actually contains high complexity - like the guy who turns up to the party in board shorts and a vest but then tells the best stories all night.
