There was a point in my life where I had just discovered the Ataris and they were the only band I was listening to while riding the bus with occasional breaks to listen to Engine 88 or the Wrens so they are a band that hold a special place in my heart. The punk quartet's new single, 'Car Song', doesn't disappoint with a return to their road-tripping best as the guitars churn with ferocity, the drums beat holes in your armour and the lyrics cut you to the quick. When you then learn that the vinyl release for this track has been pressed with the ashes of singer Kristopher Roe's late father William (RIP) and all the proceeds go to Shatterproof, a charity aimed at ending addiction, well...I'm not crying, you're crying. Thanks Ataris, good to have you in my life again.
