Leeds quartet Artio have perfected that clever trick of blending strident alt-pop vocals with heavy rock energy and melodies that keep everything from boiling over and turning into chaos. 'Split Soul' has a number of different personalities but Artio manage to wrangle them all through a pounding beat, distorted guitars and vocals the cut through all the noise like a lighthouse in the storm. This feels like the kind of material the American and Canadian markets (and maybe event the Japanese) would lap up so I'm predicting (and hoping for) big things in the Artio future.
