My immediate, gut reaction to this track was that I was listening to the love child of Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde followed by a mental meander in to why we don't hear female artists like that anymore before realising that we do - Sukie Smith. 'Into The Light' is a subtly huge single with stadium sized ambitions but a more humble heart that doesn't so much crave your attention but demand it. The stomping melody and uplifting chords could easily come from the Richard Hawley or the Verve schools of songwriting but the layered vocals and glorious harmonies really set this apart from its peers. Life affirming stuff.
