I have a huge amount of time for artists like Shaznay Lewis, quietly going about her business, writing intelligent pop songs and generally making the world a better place without any fanfare or fuss. 'Miracle' represents Lewis's first solo outing for 20 years (let that sink in) but it doesn't sound like she's lost her touch, not one bit. Punchy beats and scattered melodies set a moody scene before a low bass drone and Lewis' dusky vocals join in at the same time. This is sultry, cool and steely stuff which absolutely has the Shaznay Lewis trademark and this song could easily have been given to Sugababes but it feels personal, like she's on a mission and you'd better not get in her way. There's more to come from the former All Saint in 2024 but this is a stunning start.
