The singularly brilliant Middle Kids are back with a peppy new single that has a juxtaposingly downbeat title. 'Terrible News' is a driving and uplifting indie romp with the kind of guitars that recharge your batteries and vocals that make you want to leap about in a public place until everyone joins in. I can never quite put my finger on what it is but this Aussie outfit always seem to brighten my world a little when I hear their music but maybe it's because the front woman is called Hannah Joy and the drummer is Happy Day (bassist Tim Fitz, for completeness, is really letting the side down on the name front).
