Line Beauclair is a half French, half American singer-songwriter who just oozes cool and a certain je ne sais quoi on her debut release. 'Soft' tiptoes delicately and deliberately through a back garden at daybreak, carrying last night's high heels and still wearing a party dress. The deftly plucked guitar notes match Beauclair's breathy vocal perfectly while a sparse beat, atmospherics and a sprinkling of piano notes complete the ambiance perfectly. Superb, in any language.
