Bristol eccentrics Erotic Secrets of Pompeii are up to their old tricks again and by old tricks I mean giving their songs insane titles. In this case, they've gone for the snappy 'The Wheel, The Spade, The Stars In Motion' but, as ever, there is much more going on here. A quirky bass line, Talking Heads-esque instrumentation, a sleep-deprived David Lynch orchestrating the whole thing and a generally punchy energy are some of the key flavours you get on your first sip from the goblet. The band's trademark sense of the dramatic and performative is front and centre but they've turned their 'chaotic malice' amp up to eleven which makes for a song I wouldn't advise listening to close to bed time.
