Westcountry trio the Zaffiros are new to my ears but they seem to fast be making a name for themselves and you can see why on the strength of this latest single. 'Strain' is an almighty, sweeping and grandiose single that takes notes from the likes of Haunt the Woods, Keane, Jeff Buckley and a host of 90s bands that I miss terribly (see Addict, Headswim, Redwood and more). Soaring vocals, powerhouse drums and a wall of guitars all combine to make the kind of song that should have labels and agents clambering over each other to get a signature. I am both bowled over and deeply impressed.
