HAFDIS HULD - SINGLE REVIEW

Hafdis Huld - Darkest Night (Alda Music)

Release Date: Out Now

Iceland's Hafdis Huld is one of those artists who always comes up with the goods and could hold the attention of any venue but without ever going over the top or betraying her true self. New single 'Darkest Night' (also the name of her forthcoming new album) ripples with an acoustic twang that you might expect to hear from a mid-West stoop but Huld's vocals are so clearly steeped in the cool and folky Icelandic lore that it makes for a real fire and ice combination. When the sparse beat joins in, you get hints of First Aid Kit or Sound of the Sirens but, as always, Hafdis Huld sounds like herself and that is what makes her such a compelling artist.
