Sumika - Pure Gold

The somewhat enigmatic Sumika has popped her head above ground to release her new single, 'Pure Gold', and as much as we might want more from her, I think we need to be grateful for the morsels we are given when they taste this good. This one emerges blinking in the daylight before an industrial bass and drums combination gets things moving like an old combustion engine. Sumika's vocals are impish but firm in a way that I've only heard from the likes of Malka but also makes me think of Tinkerbell re-imagined for the 21st century. The song goes on to sweep, soar and move erratically with a Florence + the Machine energy and, all in all, this is another marvelously unique and creative piece.
