MEGAN BLACK - EP REVIEW

Megan Black - Full Circle Part 1 EP

Release Date: Out Now

This new EP from Scotland's Megan Black is a real tour de force showing off the artists range, power and freedom in just four songs. 'Full Circle Part 1' opens up with former single 'MOTHER. SISTER. LOVER' which still sounds fresh and vital with the call to arms vocals, hand clap percussion and steadily building melody that sounds like Joplin and Hozier collaborating somewhere between the astral planes. 'Just For Fun' follows with a slinky guitar hook and those lung busting vocals twisting together like lovers while the band rock out as though their lives depend on it.

The brilliantly titled 'Fuck You (You Stole My Youth)' broods and prowls with menace before jumping out of the shadows and going straight for the jugular with a sound that could have been Kylie if she'd hung out with Nick Cave for a little longer. The collection is completed with 'Me Vs Mother Nature', a song all about the changing of seasons, the death of summer and the movement of time regardless of our thoughts on the matter. Megan Black is a huge talent and a lot of people have come to that conclusion well before me but not enough so listen, enjoy and spread the word.
