The Ash renaissance continues with new single 'Crashed Out Wasted' but don't go expecting this to be the hedonistic anthem that the title might suggest. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that you need listen to this one along with the powerful video to get the full impact of the meaning. The blissed out and nostalgic melodies ping and float beautifully with Tim Wheeler's trademark vocal sliding easily across the top with the words "crashed out wasted, hash tag wasted". This is a real lighters/flashlights in the air moment in a live set but when coupled with the aforementioned video it becomes incredibly powerful. The footage provided is from a gig that Ash did in their younger days with bassist Mark Hamilton unable to stand up and barely able to move his fingers across the strings. Had they been a grunge band, this would probably have had a tragic end but, as it is, these Northern Irish boys are built of tougher stuff and there's a happy ending after all.
