Re Teu - Glas

This is the debut release from British artist Re Teu (pronounce Ree Too) and I have to admit that, based on the press shot, I made the judgement that this was probably going to be R&B fodder. However, 'Glas' has more in common with the likes of Jamie Yost and Noah Gundersen than any other artist around at the moment as the somber but uplifting vocals provide a sense of warmth and welcome. The sweeping piano notes and lurching piano notes make for an epic, cinematic sound that is unreasonably ambitious for a debut release but when that final build erupts in a swirl of guitars and drums then you just know. You know that Re Teu was meant to create music and this is just the start of this leg of the journey for him.
