I love this track for so many reasons but mainly because it is such a vital and fizzing departure from Corinne Bailey Rae that it made me laugh the first time I heard it. 'New York Transit Queen' is 117 seconds of riot girl punk with fuzzed up guitars, chaotic drums and a real sense of bristling energy that I can't get enough of. This track has more to link it to Liam Lynch, the Stooges or the Ramones than anything more soulful or jazzy that you might expect from CBR. I love it when an artist does something unexpected because they want to, not because they have to, so I say bring it on. More please. Much more.
