There was simply no way I wasn't going to like a band called the Black Angels and the Austin collective didn't let me down. Their new single, 'History of the Future', finds our dark heroes in the middle of the dessert with their guitars turned up to ear-bleedingly loud levels and a vibe that sits comfortably in the Venn diagram between My Bloody Valentine, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Doors. The quieter, moody verses provide a relief from the aural onslaught of the chorus but you always, always want that chorus to come back and mess with you again. Stunning stuff.
